The Welders is a DC-based playwrights’ collective that provides an evolving, alternative platform for play development and production.
When we took the reins of The Welders on January 1, no one had heard of COVID-19. We proceeded to develop, hire production staff, secure performance spaces and schedule the theater experiences for the first year of our three-year residency. This first-year preparation included two world premieres, both of which had to be rescheduled due to the pandemic.
We are working to ensure that The Welders will be around for a long time. With the leadership of our Board of Directors, we are looking to raise $18,000 (as interim seed money) to help us pave the way to the time when we will be able to continue the work we have begun. Whatever amount you can give, we’ll be grateful to receive it.
For those of you who have given to The Welders in the past, thank you for your generous support. It is only because of your support that we are able to do what we do. We appreciate you. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to give to this company, we hope this introduction will provide the encouragement you need to consider doing so.
