Help us see our stories through

What have stories given you?
As the end of 2020 draws near, Welders 3.0 would like to take some time to reflect on our first year steering a unique and wonderful theatre organization that places agency and ownership of the artistic process in the hands of playwrights. While this year was particularly challenging, we acknowledged that one of the things that helped us through this time was storytelling.
In fact, a moment that inspires us to this day is when we met with founding members Bob, Gwydion, Caleen, Renee, Allyson, and Jo Jo, over snacks and drinks as they recounted the origin of their collective vision.
Whether true or fictional, produced virtually or outdoors, whether written by others or ourselves, stories have been a welcome gift to help us make sense of the world around us, express our emotions, speak our truths, and find solace and joy in our imaginations.
Through the end of the year, we’d like to share with you the ways in which storytelling was a gift for each of us. As artists with varied interests, backgrounds, and passions, we realized that we responded to the events of the year each in our own artistic way.
Teshonne and Jared have taken the time to revisit their plays--postponed to next year--with new insight, revelations, and technology. JR is expanding the possibilities and scope of his two-part project premiering in 2022. And Farah, Cat, and Sisi begin forging collaborations for their work in the next couple of years, all the while working to strengthen the organization’s infrastructure to withstand current challenges and sustain the next generation of Welders playwrights.
We invite you to reflect on what stories have given you.
Whatever your answer, know that we intend our work to be a welcome platform for you to connect with one another, learn more about yourselves and the world, and find joy. We don’t know what the future holds, but what we know for certain is that our stories need an audience, and audiences need our stories.
Will you donate to The Welders today, and help us see our stories through?
